Abstract

ASI eksklusif merupakan salah satu cara untuk mensukseskan tujuan Millenium Development Goals (MDGs). Pemberian ASI eksklusif dapat mencegah kelaparan dan malnutrisi, meningkatkan perkem- bangan mental dan kognitif bayi, merupakan hak unik yang hanya dimiliki perempuan sebagai upaya penyetaraan gender, mengurangi angka kematian anak, mengurangi angka morbiditas setelah melahirkan dan memperpanjang jarak kelahiran, menurunkan angka kematian pada bayi positif HIV dan meningkat- kan HIV-free survival rate, ramah lingkungan, serta menciptakan kerjasama multisektoral dan kolaborasi beberapa departemen dan kementerian untuk mensukseskan program menyusui. Ibu memerlukan dukun- gan dari suami, keluarga serta lingkungan kerja ibu untuk membantu ibu memprioritaskan kesehatan bayi dengan memberikan ASI eksklusif. Ibu dapat mempersiapkan ‘tabungan ASI perah’ sebagai persediaan saat bekerja. Diperlukan niat, kesungguhan, komitmen dan tekad ibu dalam kesuksesan program ASI eksklusif dengan selalu mempertimbangkan tata cara memerah, menyimpan dan pemberian ASI perah.
