Abstract
Dalam skala global, selania seperempat abad ke belakang, mulai tumbuh perhatian serius dari masyarakat iliniah terhadap penyakit-penyakit yang terkait dengan masalah lingkungan, seperti banker yang disebabkan racun tertentu (toxin related cancers ), kelainan reproduksi atau gangguan pernapasan dan paru-paru akibat polusi udara. Secara jnstitusional InternationalHumanDimensions Programme on GlobalEnvironmental Change (IHDP) membangun kerjasama riset dengan Earth System Science Partnership dalam menyongsong tantangan permasalahan kesehatan dan dampak dari perubahan sosial dan budaya. Perubahan sosial dan budaya terjadi seiring dengan tekanan besar yang dilakukan manusia terhadap sistem alam sekitar, menghadirkan berbagai macam risiko kesehatan dan kesejahteraan bagi seluruh umat manusia. Tujuan penerapan pelayanan kesehatan modern dan profesional adalah dengan memperhatikan nilai-nilai budaya setempat dan mengadopsi nilai-nilai budaya tersebut dalam upaya beradaptasi dengan budaya masyarakat dalam mencapaitujuan pelayanan kesehatan modem.
