Abstrak

Pedofilia adalah orang dewasa yang berulangkali melakukan tindakan seksual dengan anak prepubertas. Prevalensi pedofilia sulit ditentukan karena banyak kasus tak tercatat. Statistik sulit diinterpretasikan karena pelecehan seksual pada anak-anak dicatat dalam berbagai kategori yang berbeda, mencakup turut serta dalam menyebabkan kenakalan pada anak (contributing to the delinquency of a juvenille), penyerangan fisik terhadap anak (indecencies with children),penyerangan seksual (indecent assault),lewd conduct, dan frase serupa lainnya. Lebih jauh lagi, pelecehan seksual terhadap anak(child molesting)seringkali tercakup dalam kategori umum, seperti pelecehan seksual(sexual offensses) pada laporan statistik kriminal.
